BROOKINGS — South Dakota 4-H announces its 2014 Foundations for Life Essay Contest.
“The South Dakota 4-H Foundation for Life Essay contest is an easy and effective way to enhance your school’s character efforts.
“The contest is to inspire young people to reflect upon, express and commit to profound and enduring truths that will guide them to make ethical choices throughout their lives,” said Karelyn Farrand, SDSU Extension 4-H character education field specialist.
Fourth-, seventh- and ninth-grade students may enter the contest. Cash prize awards are given to the top five places at each grade level. First place — $300; Second — $200; Third — $100; Fourth — $50; and Fifth — $50. Deadline for entries is Jan. 31.
The South Dakota 4-H staff is looking forward to receiving your entries for the contest.
Within the official packet you will find the materials necessary to have your fourth-, seventh- and ninth-grade students enter the contest.
