Armour - Ruth O. Brenner, 93, died at Golden Living Center in Armour on Monday, November 18, 2013. Funeral service will be Friday, November 22, 2013 at 10:00 AM at Redeemer Lutheran Church in Armour with burial following in Pleasant Ridge Cemetery in Armour. Visitation will be Thursday, November 21, 2013 from 5 - 7 PM at Redeemer Lutheran Church in Armour with a prayer service at 7:00 PM. Arrangements by Koehn Bros. Funeral Home in Armour.
Ruth Brenner passed away November 18th, 2013 at the Golden Living Center in Armour, SD at the age of 93. Ruth was born in Douglas County on February 2nd 1920 to John and Sarah (Grosz) Lau. She was baptized and confirmed at St. Peter Lutheran Church, rural Armour. She attended rural school in Douglas County. She married Dietrich (Dick) Blume on November 14, 1937. They lived and farmed on the Blume homestead. She loved to cook, bake, sew, crochet and fix the neighborhood ladies hair. Ruth, Dick and Dick's brother, Ernest purchased the Ray Lou Bowl in Armour in 1962. After the passing of Dick in April of 1966 and brother-in-law Ernest in 1967 she continued to operate the bowling alley. She married Ervin Brenner on November 11th, 1967. She and Erv continued to operate the Ray Lou Bowl and E & R bar until 1977. Erv passed away in 1991.
She is survived by her 4 daughters, Marjorie Wentz, Roene (Gerald) Weiss, Mary Jane Surina, and Brenda (Terry) Post, daughter-in-law, Karen Blume, 11grandchildren, 28 great-grandchildren, and 7 great-geat grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her husbands, Dick Blume and Erv Brenner, son Leon Blume, sons-in-law, Clem Wentz, Duane Renshaw, Herman Struck and John Surina, brother, Leonard Lau, sisters Alvera Batterman and Edna Harrington.
