Robert J. Clemens, 71 of Wagner

His funeral service will be 2:00 p.m. Saturday, September 28, 2013 at the United Methodist Church in Wagner. Burial will be in ZCBJ Cemetery, rural Wagner with military honors. Visitation will be Friday from 3 to 6, with the family present from 5 to 6, at the Crosby-Jaeger Funeral Home in Wagner.

Robert John Clemens, son of John and Lillian (Kreeger) Clemens, was born June 21, 1942 at Wagner, SD. He died Tuesday, September 24, 2013 near Pickstown, SD. Bob attained the age of 71 years, three months and four days.

Bob graduated from Ravinia High School in 1960 and then attended college at SDSU in Brookings. He later transferred to Southern State College in Springfield where he earned a two year degree.

Bob served in the U.S. Army during the Vietnam War stationed in Germany. He was always very proud of his service to his country and proud of its flag.

After college, Bob and his brother Dennis worked for Lloyd Halsey. In 1964, he owned a TV Shop in Lake Andes. Bob then farmed from 1966 to 2008. After retiring from farming, Bob worked as a bus driver and substitute teacher at the Wagner School District. He was lovingly known as "Mr. Bob".

Bob married Roberta Mae McEntaffer on April 7, 1990 at the United Methodist Church in Wagner. Together they made their home on the farm and then in Wagner. He was a Dad to Robertas children.

Bob was a member of the United Methodist Church where he helped out wherever possible. He also was a 40 year member of the Wagner Fire District and member of the American Legion Greer Post #11.

Bob will be remembered for his enjoyment of fishing, doing yard work, watching humming birds, watching football and playing card games. He especially loved working with kids. Bob most of all will be remembered for his love for his family.

Thankful for having shared his life are his wife, Roberta of Wagner; children: Garie Burton Lewis of Sioux City, IA and Bonnie Mae Sandvold and husband Matthew Lee of Brandon; three grandchildren: Kelsey Marie (Sandvold) Christensen and husband Ryan Lee, Alex Patrick Sandvold, and Thomas Ronald Langeberg; his mother, Lillian of Wagner; three brothers: Dennis and wife Barb, Richard and wife Linda and James, all of Wagner; three sisters: Arlene Bambas and husband Jerry of Lake Andes, Mary Peacock and husband Don of Brookings, and Marsha Tuschen and husband Allen of Alexandria, SD; and many nieces, nephews and friends.

Bob was preceded in death by father, John; sister, Kathleen Hegdahl; and great grandson, Bentley Matthew Christensen.
