Reiff named to all-Big 10 freshman team by rivals.com
Riley Reiff was named the offensive freshman of the year on the rivals.com 2009 all-Big Ten freshman team, it was announced Thursday.
Reiff, a Parkston native and redshirt freshman at Iowa, was named one of the guards on the freshman team, as well as the offensive freshman of the year.
He is joined on the team by five selections from Michigan, three from Illinois, Northwestern and Wisconsin and two from Indiana and Michigan State, as well as teammate Adam Robinson, who was named the running back. Minnesota and Penn State also each landed one freshman on the team.
Wisconsin linebacker Chris Borland was named the defensive freshman of the year.
Reiff is the starting left guard for an offense that has scored 277 points on 2,656 yards passing and 1,313 rushing yards so far this season. The Hawkeyes have 211 first downs and have amassed 3,969 yards of total offense so far this season.
Reiff -- who started in 10 games this season and saw playing time in all 12 -- and his Iowa teammates play Georgia Tech Tuesday, Jan. 5, in the Orange Bowl in Miami, Fla. The Hawkeyes are 10-2.
