Rapid City man sentenced for scamming government
RAPID CITY (AP) — A Rapid City man has been ordered to pay nearly $19,500 in restitution to the Social Security Administration.
Forty-year-old Ray Red Leaf pleaded guilty last April to making false statements to the federal agency. U.S. Attorney Brendan Johnson says Red Leaf claimed another person lived with him so he could receive that person's Supplemental Security Income benefits.
Red Leaf was sentenced last week to two years of probation and the restitution.
