Rapid City man dead in crash near Murdo
MURDO -- A Rapid City man died in a two-vehicle crash on Interstate 90 Saturday about nine miles west of Murdo.
Charles Thesing, 24, was traveling east around 10 p.m. in a 1998 Chevrolet S10 pickup. Quintez Provancial, 22, Rapid City, was also in the pickup. While in a construction zone with head-to-head traffic, the pickup crossed into the westbound lane and collided with a 2014 Freightliner semi-truck driven by Trygg Andrew Johnson, 36, of Amboy, Wash.
Neither Thesing nor Provancial was wearing a seatbelt. Thesing died at the scene. Provancial was taken to a Pierre hospital and then transferred to a Sioux Falls hospital.
Johnson was wearing a seatbelt. He was not injured.
No further information is immediately available.
The South Dakota Highway Patrol is investigating. Jones County Sheriff’s Office assisted.
