Prairie land burns in fire near Gann Valley
GANN VALLEY -- No injuries were reported and no structures were burned in a 160-acre prairie land fire southwest of Gann Valley on Monday, according to an area fire official.
Dave Gaulke, president of the Buffalo County Fire Association, said the fire was reported around 4 p.m. Monday. Four trucks were sent from the Gann Valley department to fight the fire, as well as fire crews from Kimball and Fort Thompson.
Gaulke said firefighters were on the scene for about two hours. It’s not known what caused the fire.
“There wasn’t anyone or any kind of farm equipment around the area,” Gaulke said.
