WATERTOWN -- Mitchell Post 18 earned its fifth win of the Legion season Friday after splitting a doubleheader against Watertown.
Mitchell (5-3) opened the doubleheader with a 6-5 victory and followed with a 6-4 loss. In the opener, Michael Sadler earned the win on the mound. Sadler gave up five runs on seven hits and struck out six in six innings. Tyler Houwman got the save with the final three outs.
"He likes that role of finishing games out," Mitchell coach Luke Norden said of Houwman. "He got a couple of key outs for us and that's a good win for us."
Two of Mitchell's youngest players produced offensively in the win. Jed Schmidt was 2-for-4 with an RBI, while Spencer Neugebauer was 2-for-3 with an RBI triple. Landon Neugebauer was 1-for-3 with a two-RBI double.
Post 18 built up a 6-0 lead in the fourth inning but allowed Watertown back in the game.
"We had a good cushion," Norden said. "We had guys on later in the game but couldn't score any runs."
In the second game, Mitchell trailed 3-0 early and didn't record a hit until the fifth inning.
Spencer Neugebauer led the way going 2-for-3 with an RBI. Schmidt was 1-for-4 with an RBI single, Houwman was 1-for-3 with two RBIs and Sadler finished 1-for-1 with three hit by pitches.
