Police seek sex offender who contacted 14-year-old in Mitchell
A bench warrant has been issued for a man convicted of illegal sexual contact in Mitchell who allegedly violated his probation while under supervision in Texas.
Jeremy William Pingeon, 26, allegedly failed to participate in substance abuse counseling and also allegedly failed to complete sex offender treatment programs. He also is accused of failing a drug test for marijuana and failing to maintain suitable contact with his Texas probation officer.
The Texas Department of Public Safety Sex Offender Registry lists Pingeon's residence as Azle, Texas, since Oct. 26, 2011, the last time there was an update to his profile on the registry.
Pingeon admitted in 2009 to meeting a 14-year-old girl on a social networking site and traveling to Mitchell, where they had sex.
If true, this would not be Pingeon's first problem with probation requirements.
He admitted in 2010 to numerous probation violations stemming from the sexual contact sentence, including failing to meet with his probation officer, failing to make 24/7 Sobriety program appointments and smoking marijuana while on probation.
Pingeon received a 180-day prison sentence in February 2011 and was given credit for 76 days already served. He was ordered to be on probation for two years through 2013.
A previously suspended five-year state penitentiary sentence could be reinstated.
