Pierre school board decides on new school location
PIERRE (AP) — The Pierre School Board has voted to pursue the purchase of 10.4 acres of land for a new elementary school in the northeast part of the city.
The Capital Journal reported the area is zoned multi-family residential, so no rezoning is necessary to build the school.
Superintendent Kelly Glodt says the exact amount of the purchase has not been finalized but it should be less than the $1.3 million originally estimated for a lot of that size.
Glodt says the total cost of the land and construction should be close to $13 million.
He says the purchase agreement should be finalized by the board’s Oct. 14 meeting.
