Chad Youngbluth, assistant manager of Slumberland Furniture in Mitchell, carries out a bed Thursday night as part of the Home for the Holidays program, which gives out new beds to families in need. The Mitchell Slumberland store has been donating beds for the past five years, with the help of the United Way in Mitchell, according to store owner Rich Bragg, of Huron. Bragg said the store will donate 20 beds to families — including the mattress, box spring, frame and mattress protector. Hand-made quilts, decorated pillow cases and pillows for all of the beds are donated with the coordination of the Community Family Extension Leaders and local churches. The partnership with United Way “gives us the feeling the right people are getting what they need,” said Bragg. (Sean Ryan/Republic)
