The South Dakota premiere of the documentary"Why We Ride," about the history, culture and community of motorcycles and the people who ride them, was held Thursday in Mitchell.

The event doubled as the launch party for the third Helping with Horsepower Bike Rebuild Program, in which Abbott House girls rebuild a motorcycle. This year’s bike, a 2001 Harley Davidson Road King with a vintage style sidecar, was at the premiere for people to take pictures with, and will be raffled off this fall.

Virginia Wishard Lambert, development director for the Abbott House, said there were 254 seats available in the movie theater and the event was sold out. The event also celebrated the kick-off to the Abbott House celebrating its 75th anniversary this year.
