Tim Stocking, of Olive Branch, Miss., raises an American flag Thursday afternoon at the Servicemen's Memorial Cemetery in Mitchell. Stocking, a retired Air Force lieutenant colonel, flew the flag over Afghanistan in 2005 as an aircraft commander in a B-1 to give to his parents Rose and the late Bernie Stocking, of Mitchell. Rose was no longer able to hang the flag and donated it to the American Legion to replace the flag at the cemetery. (Sean Ryan/The Daily Republic)
