Dan Brown, of Mitchell, closes his eyes while enduring the five minute resting period after eating eight hot wings for the Hot Wing Eating Contest at the third-annual Wingapalooza Saturday in Mitchell. Brown won the event, eating four Blarney’s Ghost Chili Wings and four American Garage Door’s Napalm Wings saying the pain was “so worth it.”

Mitchell Main Street and Beyond hosted third-annual Wingapalooza and Hot Wing Eating Contest downtown Saturday, selling more than 250 tickets, according to Jennifer Jungwirth, Main Street assistant. For the title of best wings, in third place was American Garage Door; second place, Dale’s A-1 Transmission; and first place was The Depot.
