Crews from Ironman Construction, of Tyndall, tear down the city-owned Garden of Eden building Friday afternoon at 214 W. First Ave. in Mitchell. The building was slated for demolition, but asbestos in the building needed to be removed first. According to a letter in the Mitchell City Council’s agenda booklet, the amount of asbestos found was more than twice what was originally expected. As a result, the cost of the asbestos removal will increase from $4,845 to $11,145.50. (Sean Ryan/Republic)
