Students with the Dakota Wesleyan University athletic training program participate in a mock sports spinal injury exercise Friday on campus in Mitchell. The event included a simulation of stabilizing the athlete on the field and checking his vitals, before putting him on a backboard and carrying him off the field. The simulation continued inside the Corrigan Health Science Center, where an emergency room scenario was simulated and nursing students administered help to the athlete. (Marcus Traxler/Republic)
