Authorities respond after a pedestrian was hit by a vehicle shortly after 9 a.m. Friday near the intersection of West Havens Avenue and South Miller Avenue in Mitchell. Melissa Livingston, 34, of Mitchell, was hit by a westbound vehicle driven by 40-year-old Barbara Baker, of Mitchell, according to Mitchell Police Officer Dan Kopfmann. Livingston walked into traffic on West Havens and Baker, who was traveling approximately 25 mph, didn't have time to slow down or stop, Kopfmann said. Livingston, who was taken by ambulance to Avera Queen of Peace Hospital, complained of neck and back pain at the scene. No citations were issued. (Chris Mueller/Republic)
