Mitchell South Dakota 120 South Lawler 57301

Two wrecked vehicles sit near the intersection of First Avenue and Minnesota Street on Monday afternoon in Mitchell. According to Mitchell Police Sgt. Dave Beintema, 25-year-old Adam Schorzmann, of rural Mitchell, was driving southbound on Minnesota Street in a silver 2010 Chevy Cobalt when he became distracted and hit an unoccupied, blue 2008 Saturn Aura parked on the west side of the street, causing about $5,500 in damage between the two vehicles. The distraction was not caused by a cell phone, Beintema said. No one was injured in the crash, but Schorzmann was cited for careless driving. (Sean Ryan/The Daily Republic)
