Pedal Pull draws nearly 400 kids

The National Pedal Pullers Association drew 398 children to the National Pedal Pull at the Corn Palace Saturday, said Mark Schilling, Corn Palace director. Boys and girls ages 4 through 12 participated. On their first pulls, some children pulled the entire length with the full weight put on the tractor, which is indicated in the results as FP for full pull. The children then did a second pull with added weight to determine placing, Schilling said. Below are the top five place winners for each age category:

Boys, age 4:

First, Joe Barka, Minnesota, 30 feet. Second, Dylan Mendenhall, Michigan, 23 feet, 3 inches. Third, Shay Marquardt, South Dakota, 22 feet on first pull, 21 feet, 5 inches on second pull. Fourth, Chase Bohac, Nebraska, 22 feet on first pull, 13 feet, 1 inch on second pull. Fifth, Carson Stamm, Wisconsin, 20 feet, 4 inches.

Girls, age 4:
