Parkston boys' golf team gets 2nd win at Sioux Falls Christian Invitational
SIOUX FALLS — The Parkston boys’ golf team won its second invitational of the season Thursday. The Trojans shot a 322 as a team to win the Charger Invitational, which was hosted by Sioux Falls Christian.
Parkston edged out Madison (328) and Vermillion (329) to win the team title.
“All the summer work the guys put in practicing and playing in tournaments is really paying dividends,” Parkston golf coach Tyler Hockett said. “They are still young but they have put in a lot of work, and it is really starting to pay off.”
Jake Weber, Garret Hohn and Ty Kinneberg all finished in the top 10 individually at the invitational. Weber shot a 74, finishing one stroke behind Madison’s Tayler Anderson, who won the individual crown. Kinneberg shot a 79 to take sixth and Hohn shot an 80 to finish eighth.
“Those three guys have been playing real well for us,” Hockett said. “Jake has great potential to go really low and has great love for the game. He will do whatever it takes for the team and the same goes for the rest of the guys. It is an individual sport, but they try to make each stroke count for the team.”
Parkston hits the golf course again Tuesday at the Harrisburg Invitational in Harrisburg.
