Geddes- Otto Tronvold, 96, died at Avera Platte Health Center in Platte, SD on Tuesday, April 29, 2014. Funeral service will be Friday, May 2, 2014 at 2:00 PM at United Methodist Church in Geddes with burial following in Pleasant Lawn Cemetery in Geddes. Visitation will be Thursday, May 1, 2014 from 5 - 7 PM at Koehn Bros. Funeral Chapel in Geddes with a prayer service at 7:00 PM.

Otto James Tronvold was born on the family farm in Charles Mix County near Geddes, SD to Ole and Hannah (Romeriem) Tronvold. He attended country school in Moore Township until the 8th grade. In his early years he worked as a farmhand for area farmers. He then bought a farm near Geddes. He worked for Game, Fish, and Parks for a number of years until his retirement. On February 17, 1973 he married Elfreida Rada in Yankton, SD where they made their residence until his retirement in 1982. Then moved back to Geddes where he remained until his death. Elfreida died on May 19, 2005. Through the years he was a member of United Methodist Church in Geddes, Geddes City Council, and Moore Township Board. Otto will be remembered for his willingness to always help a person out. He passed away on Tuesday, April 29, 2014 at Platte Health Center in Platte, SD at the age of 96.

He is survived by his son, Dennis Tronvold of Lake Andes, SD, 2 step-daughters, Connie (Norman) Varuska of Lawrence, KS and Shirley Muck of Spearfish, SD, step-son, Ronald (Jane) Rada of LaCrosse, WI, step-daughter-in-law, Donna Rada of Kalispell, MT, sister, Norma Rada of Geddes, SD, 12 grandchildren, 25 great-grandchildren, and 8 great-great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his parents, wife, Elfreida, 2 sisters, Shirley Pederson and Olive Nelson, step-son, Kenny Rada, and step son-in-law Mick Muck.
