One injured in crash at Havens and Burr
One woman was injured in a two-vehicle crash around 3 p.m. Thursday at Havens Avenue and Burr Street in Mitchell.
Charlene DeGroot, 63, of Platte, was driving a 1998 Ford Taurus north on Burr while Kimberly Ohnoutka, 46, of Sioux Falls, was driving south, according to police. DeGroot allegedly attempted to make a left turn onto Havens and collided with Ohnoutka's vehicle.
DeGroot suffered non-life threatening injuries and was transported by Mitchell Ambulance to Avera Queen of Peace Hospital, said Officer Brian Larson, of the Mitchell Police Division.
Ohnoutka suffered a few scratches but was otherwise OK.
Ohnoutka was wearing her seat belt, but it is unclear whether DeGroot was wearing her seat belt. Their vehicles were damaged, but Larson did not have an estimate of the amount of damage.
Charges are pending, Larson said.
