One dead in Gregory County weekend crash
GREGORY — An Aberdeen woman was killed and a Dallas man was seriously injured Saturday in a head-on collision on a rural Gregory County gravel road.
The collision occurred around noon near the corner of 292nd Street and 334th Avenue, which is located four miles south and three miles west of Gregory.
The South Dakota Highway Patrol reports Ashley Aneas Rosand, 30, Aberdeen, was driving a 1993 Chevrolet Lumina west on 292nd Street and reached the top of a hill when the vehicle collided with a 1992 Ford Explorer being driven by Robert Dennis Watson, 62. Both vehicles were over the center of the roadway at the time of the crash, according to a news release.
Rosand was dead at the scene, while Watson was taken to Avera Gregory Hospital and then transferred to Sioux Falls with serious injuries.
The South Dakota Highway Patrol reports an initial investigation showed neither driver was wearing a seat belt. That investigation is still being conducted.
No other information was immediately available Sunday. The Gregory County Sheriff's Office, Gregory Fire and Rescue, and Gregory Ambulance units also responded.
