Oglala Sioux Tribe declares drought emergency
PINE RIDGE (AP) -- The president of the Oglala Sioux Tribe has declared a drought emergency for the Pine Ridge Indian Reservation in southwest South Dakota.
President John Yellow Bird Steele says record heat and a lack of rain are a threat to public health and property and the reservation's economy.
