The National Park Service has proposed a fee for the tours of the Delta-01 underground nuclear launch facility.

The Rapid City Journal reports the Park Service has proposed a $6 fee for adults and $4 for children ages 13 to 16. Children age 12 and below would still get in for free.

Officials will seek public input on the proposed changes before any fees are set.

Christopher Wilkinson is the park's spokesman. He says the fees would allow the park to offer more ranger-led tours.

The new revenue would be used to hire additional staff and to set up an online reservation system. Visitors currently can only get tickets on a first-come, first-served basis.
