Omaha, Nebraska. Born in Wagner, South Dakota, to Michael W. and Eileen Lassen, Nyla moved with her family to Mitchell, South Dakota in 1943. In her senior year at Mitchell High School, she helped form the first Mitchell High School Drill Team. She graduated from Mankato Commercial Business College and took classes in music and speech at Black Hills State Teachers College. She and her husband, Gordon, lived for a time in Pasadena, California and Alexandria, Virginia, before moving to Omaha in 1965. When she retired in 2012, Nyla had worked for Mary Our Queen Catholic Church as an Administrative Assistant for 28 years. Her family and her faith were the two most important things in her life.

Nyla is survived by her husband, Gordon D. Hussey; daughter, Michele Anderson (Sean); son, James Hussey (Susan); sister, De Kurtenbach (Kurt); 3 grandchildren; 3 great-grandchildren.

VIGIL SERVICE Sunday, March 9th at 4pm at the West Center Chapel of Heafey Hoffmann Dworak Cutler Mortuaries in Omaha, followed by VISITATION until 7pm. VISITATION Monday, March 10th at 9:30am at St. Joan of Arc Catholic Church in Omaha, followed by MASS OF CHRISTIAN BURIAL at 10am at the church. Interment, Resurrection Cemetery, Omaha. Memorials are suggested to Wounded Warrior Project or St. Jude Childrens Research Hospital.
