Not much change in South Dakota crime numbers

PIERRE (AP) — The number of serious crimes reported in South Dakota was down slightly in 2013, but arrests for less-serious offenses rose a bit over the year before.

Attorney General Marty Jackley released the Crime in South Dakota report Monday showing a drop of less than 1 percent in the number of serious crimes compared with the year before.

It says arrests for more minor offenses were up nearly 5 percent over 2012.

Jackley says drug arrests were up nearly 20 percent from 2012 to 2013.
