NorthWestern upgrading substation, outage in Ethan Monday
HURON -- NorthWestern Energy has been working on a major upgrade in
the Ethan area and has scheduled an outage on Monday to complete the work.
The outage will start around 1:15 p.m. and could last as long as three hours for customers living in Ethan.
"We energized the new Ethan substation earlier in the week and have been transferring customers throughout the week in preparation from disconnecting the old substation. The final
step of the cutover requires us to de-energize the system so that the work can be done safely," said Mitchell Area Manager Craig Fergen.
"Although it's an inconvenience, we're thrilled to complete this $675,000 project that will not only improve power quality and reliability for our customers in Ethan, it will meet future anticipated growth in the area."
In addition to the new substation, NorthWestern has spent approximately $425,000 upgrading the distribution system in the area over the past couple of years.
NorthWestern Energy apologizes for any inconvenience this planned outage may cause. For
