No Boating Zone on Big Sioux River to be lifted in Sioux Falls
PIERRE - The no boating zone on the Big Sioux River that was enacted June 29 due to hazardous conditions that had developed from construction and high water levels has been rescinded by Gov. Dennis Daugaard, effective at 1 p.m. Tuesday.
The City of Sioux Falls had been repairing portions of their sanitary sewer system between Cliff Avenue and 26th Street, resulting in hazardous boating conditions for that stretch of the Big Sioux River. The work to that portion of the Big Sioux River has since been completed.
Even though this no boating zone has been lifted, Game, Fish and Parks Department officials are asking people boating to remain cautious as high water levels and floating debris may persist on the river and many other lakes across the state.
