No. 4 Blackhawks beat MCS boys

FORESTBURG -- The No. 4 Sanborn Central/Woonsocket boys’ basketball team forced Mitchell Christian to commit 26 turnovers in a 73-37 win Thursday.

Leading the Blackhawks in rebounds was Dillon Moore, who grabbed eight, while Davion Brooks pulled down seven. Brooks also scored a game-high 18 points, while Tyler Krueger added 12. Tucker Kingsbury chipped in with 10 assists for SCW, which was 26-of-65 from the field and 11-of-20 from the free-throw line.

“Sanborn Central/Woonsocket is a really athletic team,” MCS coach Dennis Martin said. “They took it to us from the start and we never really got going.”

Mitchell Christian was led by Wes Vander Pol and Austin Bormann. Vander Pol scored a team-high 14 points, while Bormann added 12 points and three assists. Chandler Nelson had a team-high 14 rebounds for the Golden Eagles, who shot 9-of-49 from the field and 15-of-19 from the free-throw line.

SCW (16-3) hosts Bridgewater-Emery Monday in Woonsocket, while MCS (4-15) plays Wessington Springs Monday in Wessington Springs.
