New executive director named at LifeQuest
The LifeQuest Board of Directors announced Friday that Steve Johnson, of Reno, Nev., will be the new executive director of LifeQuest in Mitchell.
Johnson will begin his duties March 17 and take over for current Executive Director Daryl Kilstrom, who is retiring.
Lifequest Board of Directors President Lyndon Overweg said Friday that Johnson’s history fighting for those with disabilities on both the state and federal level and his passion for those causes made him a good hire for Lifequest.
“It’s a position with big shoes to fill with Daryl leaving, but we feel that we have a very good candidate coming in with Steven Johnson,” Overweg said, adding that Lifequest board members and other community members were involved with the hiring process.
Johnson has a degree in electrical engineering and worked in the personal computer and internet boom in northern California for such companies as Intel Corp, ITT, and Cisco Systems.
In 2000, he shifted his focus to advocacy, model residential settings and technology applications for people with developmental disabilities.
