Museum to host book signing, program on feed sack dresses
The March session of the Middle Border Lecture Series will be held at 7 p.m. Tuesday at Dakota Discovery Museum in Mitchell and will feature Yankton author Marilyn Kratz for a short talk on her new book Feed Sack Dresses and Wild Plum Jam -- Remembering Farm Life in the 1950s.
A program on feed sack fabric and clothing will follow.
Marilyn Kratz is a freelance writer from Yankton. She has had about 600 stories, articles and poems published in a variety of children's and general interest magazines. She has also published five books. She is a retired elementary teacher and a member of the Society of Children's Book Writers and Illustrators.
Following Marilyn's short presentation, Mitchell's own "Quilt Ladies," Ruby and Louise, will present a program on feed sack fabrics and clothing.
A book signing will follow the program. The program is free to the public and refreshments will be served. The lecture series is presented every other month and features speakers on topics pertaining to the history, art and culture of the Middle Border region.
