Mudcats top Mad Dogs in eight innings
PARKSTON -- The Parkston Mudcats defeated the Mitchell Mad Dogs 11-0 Thursday night in eight innings in Sunshine League amateur baseball action.
Brady Nolz picked up the win for the Mudcats. He gave up four hits, struck out 13 and walked two.
Offensively for the Mudcats, Roger Albrecht had a home run, a double and a single. Anthony Williams had a home run and a single, Cody Freudenthal had a home run and a single and Jeff Harris had two doubles.
Cody Palmer was the losing pitcher for the Mad Dogs. Offensively, Jordan Piper had a double.
The Mudcats are 18-4 overall and 13-2 in the Sunshine League. They are back in action Thursday, when they take on the Parkston Bullheads for their first district game. Game time is set for 8:30 p.m. in Parkston.
Parkston Rock Bass 11, Corsica/Stickney 1
CORSICA -- The Parkston Rock Bass defeated Corsica/Stickney 11-1 Thursday night in Sunshine League amateur baseball action in Corsica.
Brandon Auch was the winning pitcher for Parkston.
He pitched seven innings, gave up five hits, one run and had six strikeouts.
Offensively for the Rock Bass, Richie Wiese went 3-for-4 with three doubles and four RBIs, Sterling Kinneberg went 2-for-3 with a run and a stolen base and James Boehmer was 1-for-4 with a home run and two runs scored.
Steven Blom took the loss for Corsica/Stickney. Offensively, Blom went 2-for-3 with a walk and Kiefer Johnson went 2-for-4 and scored Corsica/Stickney's only run.
The Rock Bass improve to 9-6 in the Sunshine League and are back in action on Sunday, when they take on the Parkston Bullheads in Parkston. Game time is set for 7:30 p.m.
Plankinton 8, Miller/Wolsey-Wessington 6
PLANKINTON -- Plankinton defeated Miller/Wolsey-Wessington 8-6 Thursday night in amateur baseball action in Plankinton.
Preston Christensen was the starting pitcher for Plankinton. He had 11 strikeouts. Chris Hill came in with the save. Offensively for Plankinton, Hill went 2-for-3 with two RBIs and Jeremy Nedved went 2-for-5 with three RBIs.
Joel Lewellen took the loss for Miller/Wolsey-Wessington.
Plankinton improves to 9-10 overall and is back in action on Friday when it takes on Chamberlain in Chamberlain. Game time is set for 5 p.m.
