MOUNT VERNON: Students place in poem, essay contest
Good job to the students who participated in the 2014 CBH Academic Festival.
Mount Vernon placed third in the written portion, third in the team portion and third overall.
Winners of the Americanism Poem and Essay Contest are as follows:

Congratulations, students. These winners were invited to read their entry at the American Legion Auxiliary Meeting held April 3.
Events for this week are as follows:
Monday, April 7, is a Mount Vernon student enrichment staff development day.
There will be a varsity golf meet in Mitchell with the girls at Lakeview and the boys at Wild Oak beginning at 10 a.m.
Tuesday, there will be a boys golf meet with Gregory at 9:30 a.m. and a varsity track meet at Parkston at 2:30 p.m.
Friday, there will be a varsity golf meet at 10 a.m. with the boys in Burke and girls in Gregory.
Saturday, there will be a boys baseball double header in Mount Vernon with Mount Vernon playing at 2 p.m. and 6 p.m.
Sunday, there will be a clean-up day at the Mount Vernon Cemetery at 4 p.m. Any volunteers would be welcome.
April 14, there will be a middle school track meet in Mitchell at 4 p.m. The boys baseball team will play at Parkston at 5:30 p.m.
