Mount Vernon man uninjured in accident
MOUNT VERNON -- The driver of a truck pulling a horse trailer passed out while driving Wednesday night in rural Davison County and had no recollection of how his vehicle ended up in the ditch but was uninjured in the one-vehicle accident.
The accident occurred around 8:30 p.m., on 394th Avenue and near the intersection with 250th Street and the Aurora County line. The driver of the truck, Mark Meier, 55, of rural Mount Vernon, was traveling south in his 2004 Ford pickup when he veered off the road and into the ditch. The truck and trailer traveled another 40 yards before coming to a stop in front of a line of trees.
Davison County Sheriff's Deputy Tim Reitzel, who responded to the scene, reported Meier had no recollection of the incident and didn't remember what happened in between driving and ending up in the ditch. He was checked by medical personnel with the Mount Vernon Fire Department and Mitchell Ambulance. It is unknown if Meier was wearing a seat belt.
No citations were issued, but the incident remains under investigation.
