More South Dakota statehood celebrations planned
PIERRE (AP) — More activities are planned across South Dakota to mark its 125th year of statehood.
Madison will host an All-School Reunion and Prairie Music Festival July 26 for everyone who has attended or currently attends an area school.
The annual Carthage Straw Bale Festival on Aug. 2-3 will feature a parade with participants dressing in 1889 style clothing and floats promoting history.
Rochford Heritage Day on Aug. 23 will include displays and artifacts in the community hall showing the town's history.
And Pierre-Fort Pierre will hold an Amazing History Race on Sept. 13 where teams will collect clues about South Dakota history and destinations as they travel through both towns.
