Mobile post office vehicle arrives in Ipswich
IPSWICH (AP) -- The U.S. Postal Service is sending a mobile post office unit to deliver mail in the northeastern South Dakota town of Ipswich, where the post office building has been temporarily closed because of a leaky roof.
Post office operations were suspended last month because officials said the roof problem was a safety hazard for customers and employees. Mail services were moved to Aberdeen, about a half mile away. The move upset some of Ipswich's 1,000 residents.
The American News reports that the mobile unit is a small recreational vehicle outfitted for postal service use. It started bringing mail to the town on Monday.
