MMS&B photo contest announced
May is National Historic Preservation Month, and Mitchell Main Street & Beyond is celebrating by holding a Downtown Photo Contest.
Local photographers can capture images of their favorite downtown Mitchell building or architectural characteristic. The event coincides with Preservation Month's theme, which is "See, save and celebrate!"
Winner of the contest will receive a free, one-year membership to MMS&B, as well as use of the photo in MMS&B promotional materials.
Rules of the contest are:
-Photos must be of a structure located within Mitchell's Downtown Historic Commercial District. A map of the district is available on MMS&B's website, www.mitchellmainstreet.com.
-Photos can be of any commercial or public building.
-Photos of private residences will not be accepted.
-Photos must have been taken in the last two years.
-Photos must be owned by the person submitting.
-Photos can be either in color or black and white.
-Photos can be either interior or exterior.
-Photos can be either the entire structure, or a close-up detail.
-Limit of two photos per photographer will be accepted.
The deadline to submit photos is 5 p.m. May 24. Email all photos to email@example.com. Voting will be done online only on Mitchell Main Street & Beyond's Facebook page. Specifics on voting will be announced later on MMS&B's Facebook page. Voting will begin on May 28 and end on June 3. The winning photo will be announced on June 4.
