Mitchell South Dakota 120 South Lawler 57301

A Mitchell woman who admitted to smoking marijuana while on probation will be required to complete a new addiction treatment program as part of her sentence.

Chelsey Lutz, 21, was sentenced to a suspended five-year prison term in 2010 for various drug charges. That sentence was continued Tuesday, but with a new requirement that Lutz complete a new addiction treatment program through the James Valley Drug Court, which is scheduled to open later this month.

Lutz was also sentenced to 180 days in jail, with credit for 112 days she has already served. The remaining 68 days will be set aside and imposed at the discretion of drug court officials.

Lutz will remain in custody at the Davison County Jail until drug court opens.
