Mitchell woman gets jail time for stealing hydrocodone
A Mitchell woman will spend 90 days in jail for stealing and using prescription drugs.
Laura Hawes, 37, pleaded guilty in July to possession of a controlled substance by theft after she took her son's prescription Hydrocodone pills.
Judge Tim Bjorkman gave her a suspended three-year prison sentence. She will serve 90 days in jail, with 20 days credit for time already served. She will serve her first 10 days starting Aug. 19; 30 days starting July 1, 2014; and 30 days starting July 1, 2015.
She must pay $104 in court costs, $45 in prosecution fees and must not be around or consume alcohol or drugs. She must also enroll in and complete any evaluation, counseling or treatment suggested by her probation officer.
Bjorkman granted release during her jail time to continue working through the Pathway program.
