Mitchell woman gets 2 years of probation for hit-and-run
A Mitchell woman involved in a hit-and-run in October received two years of probation, jail time and a $500 fine Tuesday in Davison County district court.
Shane Marie Carrier, 38, was remorseful and apologetic in her words to Judge Sean O'Brien, who sentenced Carrier to two years in prison but suspended the execution of that sentence contingent on the terms of her probation.
Carrier turned herself in to police after she realized her involvement in a hit-and-run accident in October that left a Mitchell man with multiple non-life-threatening injuries.
Carrier was also fined $500 and ordered to serve four weekends in county jail, and also to write an apology letter to the victim as one of the terms of her probation.
She will begin serving her jail time the weekend of Feb. 11.
