Mitchell woman arrested for possessing meth
A Mitchell woman is accused of possessing methamphetamine while on probation.
Amy Demaranville, 43, admitted to law enforcement last week that she last used meth on April 30, according to court documents. The charge carries a maximum penalty upon conviction of five years in prison and a $10,000 fine.
Court documents state law enforcement received a Crimestoppers tip that Demaranville received meth on April 30, so Mitchell Police Division conducted a search of her home. As she is on probation, she had already waived her right to search and seizure.
Law enforcement found a plastic baggie with residue that tested positive for meth, a straw that appeared to be used to snort drugs, and a pipe that appeared to be used to smoke meth.
