Mitchell teen gets jail term for rape
A Mitchell man will serve 90 days in jail for raping a teenage girl in November.
Lane Henrichsen, 19, received his sentence during court Tuesday at the Davison County Public Safety Center.
Henrichsen pleaded guilty in December to raping a girl at least three years younger than him. He claimed the sex was consensual. Henrichsen's attorney Phil Carlson requested a suspended imposition of sentence for Henrichsen, but it was denied.
Judge Tim Bjorkman sentenced Henrichsen to a three-year prison term but suspended it. He ordered that Henrichsen instead serve jail time in increments starting with 30 days on May 1, 30 days in May 2015 and 30 days in May 2016.
Bjorkman said Henrichsen can return to court during his probation period and ask for a suspended imposition of sentence, which would give him the chance to wipe the felony from his record.
