Mitchell teen arrested after foot pursuit by police officer
A 19-year-old Mitchell man was arrested after being chased down on foot by a Mitchell police officer earlier this month.
Colby John Bunkers, of Mitchell, was arrested Feb. 17 after running from his vehicle during an attempted traffic stop by a Mitchell police officer.
The officer saw Bunkers fail to stop when turning from Rowley Street on to Seventh Avenue.
The police report states Bunkers drove approximately two blocks after the officer activated his emergency lights before pulling over.
After pulling over, Bunkers allegedly exited the vehicle and started running south on Rowley Street and through the backyards of several houses.
The officer caught and handcuffed Bunkers outside a house at the intersection of Rowley Street and Fifth Avenue, at which point he noticed Bunkers smelled strongly of alcohol and was slurring his speech.
Bunkers was arrested and charged with driving under the influence, failing to stop for an emergency vehicle, and obstructing a law enforcement officer.
