Mitchell stores collect $5,200 for local cancer society group
County Fair Food Store, County Fair Food and Fuel and the combined efforts of 100 local volunteers plus the many shoppers who provided tips or added a dollar to their purchases on Nov. 16 resulted in $5,200 in net proceeds for the day.
The Grocers Fight Cancer donations are directed to the Davison County Unit of the American Cancer Society for patient support programs provided locally in collaboration with the Avera Queen of Peace Cancer Center and research grants funded through the American Cancer Society.
Over the past 12 years, monetary and in-kind donations facilitated through County Fair Food Store now approach $40,000. County Fair Food Store, a member of the National Grocers Association, representing independent community focused grocers, has been a part of this program since its introduction to the Mitchell area.
