Mitchell Special Olympics cheer squad takes first

The Mitchell Special Olympics cheerleaders won first place in their division at the Special Olympics South Dakota State Basketball Tournament March 14-15 in Pierre.

Cheerleaders included Bryton Cummings, Emilie Cummings, Harley Johnson, Mona Skidmore and Sara Tackett. The coaches were Ann Bauman and Karla Cummings.

In a separate division, the Mitchell White unified team won second place. Team members were Thy Chum, Ryan Collins, Mike Determan, Laura Feller, Jody Neitzel and Bret Pederson. Unified partners were Mary Hieb, Erik Kurth, Jenna Skinner and Logan Walters. The coach was Nathan Putnam.

The Mitchell Silver unified team won third place in another division. Team members were Scott Goldammer, Matt Hasner, Aaron Krouse, Luke Nagel and Jerry Vobr. Unified partners were Jerimy Bultje, Ryan DeBoer, Amber Erickson, Shana Jensen and Lyndon Overweg. The coach was Rod Clarambeau.

The Mitchell Black team won third place in the junior division. Team members were Anthony Kelly, Breanna Kelly, Kaitlyn Putnam, Angie Semmler, Carissa Vobr and Tiffany Vobr. The coaches were Pat Belling and Amber Stirling.

The Mitchell Gold team won fifth place in its division. Team members were Ian Ames, Tom Archambeau, Matt Baysinger, Kyle Clarambeau, Josh Crittenden, Chris Heckenliable, Matthew Putnam, Tanner Stirling and Brett Weier. The coaches were Randy Kurth and Marie Kurth.

In the basketball skills contest, Christina Fuoss-Dickson won second place in her division.
