Mitchell Optimist Club’s speech contest set March 29 at MHS
The Mitchell Area Optimist Club will hold its local oratorical contest at 9:30 a.m. on March 29 at Mitchell High School.
This year’s theme is “How My Passions Impact the World.”
Students’ speeches will be judged based on content and presentation to determine the top winners. Both a boy and girl winner will receive a $250 cash prize and the winners will be sent to the district level in Fargo, N.D., where college scholarships are available for top winners.
Students under the age of 18 as of Dec. 31, 2013, who have not yet graduated from high school or the equivalent, are eligible to participate. The deadline for applications is March 25.
