Mitchell man thrown from vehicle in rollover
LAKE ANDES -- One person was injured in a rollover accident Sunday north of Lake Andes.
Joshua McGhee, 31, of Mitchell, was traveling west on 290th Street in a 2000 Ford Contour when he lost control of the vehicle around 12:30 a.m. Sunday, according to the South Dakota Highway Patrol. The vehicle entered the south ditch and rolled. McGhee was not wearing a seat belt and was thrown from the vehicle.
McGhee walked to a nearby residence for help and was taken to a local hospital for treatment, according to the South Dakota Highway Patrol.
Lt. Paul Gerken of the South Dakota Highway Patrol said citations are pending, as the investigation is ongoing. It is possible alcohol was a factor, he added.
Charles Mix Sheriff's Office, Lake Andes Ambulance and Bureau of Indian Affairs Police assisted at the scene.
