Mitchell man injured in motorcycle-deer crash
A Mitchell man was injured Thursday when the motorcycle he was driving collided with a deer shortly before 5:30 a.m. west of Mitchell.
Lucas Johnson, 23, of rural Mitchell, was driving a motorcycle eastbound in the 3100 block of West Havens Street when he crashed into a deer that came out of the ditch, according to Mitchell Police Officer Dan Fechner.
Johnson was taken by ambulance to Avera Queen of Peace Hospital in Mitchell with minor injuries.
The Mitchell Police Division and Mitchell Ambulance responded to the crash. A person following Johnson in another vehicle reported the crash to authorities, Fechner said.
No citations were issued as a result of the crash.
