Mitchell man faces 10 years for selling prescription drug

A Mitchell man pleaded guilty Tuesday to distributing a controlled prescription drug.

Michael Huff, 28, now faces a maximum penalty of 10 years in prison and a $20,000 fine after admitting to selling a controlled prescription drug known as Lorazepam. Huff said in court Tuesday that he sold the drug to another person in December at a gas station in Mitchell.

In exchange for Huff’s guilty plea, prosecutors agreed to dismiss another charge and to recommend he serve no more than three years in prison. They also agreed not to charge Huff as a habitual offender.

Huff is scheduled to be sentenced in November.
